Privacyand your family's material

The plain answer first: what your family puts in the archive stays in the family. There are no ads, no analytics trackers, no data brokers, and nothing is ever sold. The details follow.

What we hold

• Account details — your name and email address, so we can invite you, sign you in and reset your password.
• What your family contributes — photographs, documents, recordings, captions, and the family tree itself, including details of living relatives.
• Waitlist entries — the name, email and note you submit, plus the submitting address, used only to prevent abuse and to contact you about a spot.
• Ordinary server logs, kept briefly for security and troubleshooting.

What we never do

• No advertising, no third-party trackers, no selling or sharing of your data with anyone.
• Your material is never used to train third-party AI. Where the archive generates photo descriptions to help with searching, that runs on our own private hardware and the images never leave our servers.

Cookies

One cookie, and only after you sign in: the session cookie that keeps you signed in. No third-party cookies.

Email

We only send emails the archive needs to function — invitations, password resets and account notices. No newsletter, no marketing.

Living relatives

Details of people who may be living are only shown to signed-in members of the family. Public pages carry history, not the living.

Where it lives

The archive runs on privately operated servers with Cloudflare in front for security, and is backed up nightly. Access to a family's archive is limited to that family's invited members.

Your choices

You may ask at any time for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, for a correction, or for your account to be removed. Material you contributed remains in the family archive unless you ask for it to be taken down too.
